About Kathryn Rutherford

Kathryn Rutherford is a Canadian-born fine artist, photographic and fine art restoration specialist, and Art educator operating the Heirloom Art Studio in an 1840 historic building in Madison, Indiana. Her work has been featured in a multitude of international exhibitions and has received prestigious awards from Eastman Kodak Company, Epcot Center, Fuji Photo Film Corporation, American Kennel Club, Golden Retriever Club of America, Kraft Dreams on Ice, and received awards and online recognition from Manhattan Arts International and Artsy Shark. Her paintings and restorations are in corporate and private collections worldwide. Rutherford's "Spirit Paintings" are narrative investigations of the effects of light and shadow using transparent, pure paint layered to create jewels of colour and deep shadows as light passes through objects, figures, and space. They portray treasured heirlooms, fantasies, stories of ordinary lives, or a state of being on a metaphysical plane. The artist is a lifetime member of Professional Photographers of America.
