The Erdverken travel the Badlands in groups known as cackles, preying upon smaller mammals. Their long snouts have evolved over time to include a secondary mouth which makes it easier to feed on the smaller creatures who live in the cracks and crevices throughout this desolate region. The Erdverken have an acute sense of their surroundings, with their eight eyes making it almost impossible to sneak up on them. And even those creatures lucky enough to ambush them are up for a challenge. Erdverken, although only the size of a medium dog, are fierce and determined beasts. Their hide is so thick and strong that it is impenetrable to most teeth and weapons. Lining the center of their body from their nose to their tales are sharp plates forming another line of defense. Even larger species are challenged by Erdverken, especially when encountering a cackle. They have been known to take down some of the fiercest beasts of the region.
