Description
Later, the Alchemist would never be sure if this customer had been real or some dream he had while waking... she was dressed in the deepness of night with naught but an ornate mask covering her face. The feathers surrounding the mask rustled on an invisible breeze as if she were always in motion, but she seemed to hardly move. He immediately knew that she was there to purchase the 'failed' experiment from the day before. For some reason, this was just what she required - although he couldn't even tell her what it would do precisely. She just smiled, paid him well for his time, and went away again... This illustration was sketched in graphite first and then inked for its final version.
