Notes: In the Hindu religion, Vishnu's third avatar, or manifested form, is often depicted as a boar-headed man holding the wheel, conch shell, mace, and lotus flower, shown here on the buttons of his coat.
Vishnu assumed the boar form to rescue Earth from the primeval ocean by lifting it on his tusks, where you will find the forms of the continents marked. He readied Earth for mankind by molding the mountains seen in the background.
