About Mia Araujo

Mia Araujo is an Argentine-American artist, born and raised in Los Angeles.

She strongly believes in the power of nature to heal us, and to richly transform our increasingly disconnected, modern lives.

Through her work, she strives to depict the magical connection between humans and nature, and the constant balance between darkness and light that we grapple with each day. She works traditionally, primarily in acrylics, and also in graphite, ink, and watercolor.

Mia is currently developing her passion project- an illustrated novel reinterpreting Alice in Wonderland as a sister story set in a West African fantasy world, which she intends to self-publish.

In May 2007, Mia graduated as valedictorian from Otis College of Art and Design, with a BFA in Illustration and a minor in Creative Writing. She has shown her work in prominent galleries across the US and around the world, including Roq la Rue, Copro Gallery, Spoke Art, Mondo Gallery, and Corey Helford. She has traveled to conventions across the country to exhibit her work, including GenCon, Emerald City ComiCon, and WonderCon.

Her work has been published in Hi-Fructose Magazine, Juxtapoz, Imagine FX, Spectrum Fantastic Art, Society of Illustrators LA, Suggestivism, The Game of Thrones Compendium, Blue Canvas, Infected by Art, Miroir Magazine, Creep Machine, and the Creative Quarterly.
