For this small acrylic painting, I felt inspired by Tobias Kwan' s surreal work where he uses quite abstract marks and decorative elements, my flowers felt more concrete somehow (even though they are just blobs). I wanted to try rubber stamps to suggest more detail than painted - on the Yupo paper this was painted on, the result isn' t that impressive because the paint gets this smudgy texture. Might be better on paper. Because the synthetic paper gives up the paint without hesitation, I had to cover it all in transparent gesso before using coloured pencils for details.
