Projects: - I' m currently working on a book of my space art, I Dream of Space. Described by Toni Weisskopf as " romantic spaceships," my sci-fi paintings are fantastical and expressionistic, as if I am an ancient astronomer seeing the scenes in dreams. I create them by building up textures and illuminating the happy accidents I find within. I like to push the boundaries between narrative decision and randomness-- it' s how I make sense of life and art! - I' m creating a body of landscape paintings from my photos and memories of the Westfjords of Iceland. - The Birdwhisperer Project--https://www.facebook.com/birdwhisperer.project/ -- which I co-founded with Amanda Makepeace in 2016 is dedicated to spreading the love of birds and bird art and to encouraging personal stylistic development. Each month all participating artists create their own vision of the selected reference photo of that month' s bird (all photos used are public domain or contributed with usage rights). The individual vision of each artist makes each piece unique and special. Artists of all media, ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. - Finding My Familiar, a book of my toned paper drawings, released in June 2020.
Location: Nashville, TNAcrylic on canvas, 30 x 40 inches, created by commission. I wanted to create a window onto another world, both serene and filled with activity, incorporating some elements of retro sci-fi illustration while putting my own twist on them. The piece is richly layered and was painted over many months, completed in May of 2021. Available as a print in two sizes, 11 x 14 inches or 18 x 24 inches.
