"Artist and Muse" is loosely inspired by one of my favorite life drawings that I made as a teenager. Instead of painting the background as it was in reality, I wanted to express what that period of my life felt like to me, which is why I decided to incorporate a sunset-inspired color scheme and over 120 artworks scattered on the ground, each piece conveying the complex relationship between the artist and her muse. While many of the drawings and paintings on the floor were created this year, several of them were created as early as 2006. A wide variety of materials and mediums were used for these older pieces, ranging from traditional mediums like pencil drawings and watercolor to unusual ones like screen door mesh and glitter nail polish. "Artist and Muse" was created to reflect on my past, acknowledge how far I've come since then, and look ahead at where I plan on going with my art in the future.
