Artist: Francis Dooley

Francis Dooley was born in Albuquerque NM in 1970. Creating art has been a part of his life from childhood. Upon graduating High School in 1988 he served in the US Navy Seabees until the end of 1991. After spending a few more years in NM and then Michigan he and his family relocated to the state of Washington in 1998 and currently works and lives in Bellingham, WA.

Francis is a self-taught Contemporary Surrealist Painter and developed a love and passion for the dark & the beautiful from an early age. He works primarily in acrylics and oils, both airbrush and traditional methods, and is often inspired by that which surrounds us daily. He also is greatly inspired by the works of H.R. Giger, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Rembrandt, Turner, Donato Giancola, Brom and the list goes on….

Drawing and painting from an early age, Francis purchased his first airbrush in 1990 and found a new and exciting way to express his thoughts and visions. He was hooked and has perfected his craft ever since…. In 2000 he entered the automotive refinish industry painting all types of vehicles and began to explore ways to express these visions on custom painted vehicles of all shapes and sizes. This skillset still permeates his artwork today. Needing an escape from the daily dose of automotive paint chemicals, in 2013 he decided to return to school to study Drafting & Design. This opened a new world of creativity as well as a renewed perspective on his art.

Francis continues to explore the Dark & the Beautiful of our world and others thru his paintings. The journey continues….
