After receiving an MFA in costume design at Carnegie-Mellon University, I realized I really wanted to make the characters and beings themselves rather than their garments, and turned toward illustration and sculpture. I did freelance commercial work for many years, creating a great herd of toy critters and giftware prototypes, including the Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s model dinosaur line. Liturgical murals and other intriguing detours added to the mix. Now, I work on my own universe of beings, and count myself tremendously fortunate to be part of the current, vibrant world of fantastic art and imaginative realism. We have an astonishingly rich dance of artists and audience now! I say to all, go for it now, make your strange dreams tangible.
