About Nikole Cooney

Nikole Cooney is best known for creating otherworldly images reflecting her connection with nature and appreciation for wildlife through surreal and fantastic imagery. Her work speaks of the resilient and ephemeral qualities of both nature and man in an anthropomorphic way. Many sculptures contain elements of adjacent pieces unifying them to create their own environment.

“Working with materials such as wood, found and recycled objects, stone, and a variety of clays, helps to reinforce my personal connection with nature in a very tangible way. My intention is that each piece is infused with the wild beauty and complexity that surrounds us but is frequently overlooked.”

Nikole Cooney received her undergraduate at Illinois Central College. She went on to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on a Presidential Scholarship. Nikole has exhibited in a number of galleries in Peoria, Chicago, Baton Rouge and more. She now resides in East Peoria, Illinois.

My work explores a personal connection with nature through materials such as wood, a variety of clays, stone, and found objects. My intention is to imbue each creation with the wild beauty and complexity of the natural world which is frequently overlooked. Thru these creations, it is my hope others may see the common thread connecting us to our environment and each other.
